Footballers are making, even more, cash today as compared to their counterparts in the last decade. The main reason is the emergence of more brands and sponsors willing to splash more cash. Star players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continues to lead in the money league.
Let us see who make the rich list in endorsements;
7. Zlatan Ibrahimovic- $7,000,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include Adidas and Volvo
Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in all competitions. He is a controversial character in so many ways but the most important thing is that he is making a lot of money for that. This year, he will earn $7,000,000 from brands and sponsors he endorses. The Big Swede future is up in the air after a serious injury towards the end of the season. He is likely to switch to MLS next season.
6. James Rodriguez- $7,000,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include Adidas, Pepsi, Huawei and Hugo Boss
Colombia international James Rodriguez has struggled to get play time at Real Madrid. However, he continues to make a lot of money every day thanks to the club, sponsors, and brands. He earns a total of $7,000,000-per-year. The 25-year-old was not included in the team that played Juventus last Saturday. This opens doors for his exit.
5. Sergio Aguero- $7,500,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include EA Sports, PepsiCo, and Puma
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is the very first Premier League player on the list with a total earning of $7,500,000-per-year. The cash comes from brands and sponsors endorsements. At the age of 28, it is certainly the right time for the prolific Argentine to make money.
4. Gareth Bale- $11,000,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include Adidas, Konami, EA Sports, Foot Locker and Sony
Real Madrid star Gareth Bale signed a long-term deal with the club in October 2016 to keep him in Santiago Bernabeu for the next six years. He will earn £300,000-per-week until 2022. He is also set to pocket $11,000,000-per-year from Brands and Sponsors this year. The Welsh winger future is however in doubt after a difficult season with injury problems.
3. Neymar- $23,000,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include Unilever, Konami, Nike, Red Bull, Volkswagen, Gillette, and Panasonic
Brazil Captain Neymar star has been shining brighter every year. At the age of 25, he is earning far more than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when they were the same age. He has more years to play and this means he will earn even more in the coming years.
2. Lionel Messi-$28,000,000-per-year
Brands and Sponsors include: Adidas, EA Sports, Tata, Gatorade and Gillette
Lionel Messi earns the same weekly salary as Ronaldo at Barcelona but when it comes to endorsements, the Argentine falls behind the Portuguese by $4M, maybe because he is not in Twitter yet. The five times World Player of the year failed to inspire his side in both La Liga and Champions League despite scoring 54 goals.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo- $32,000,000-per-year

He is set to earn more after helping his club retain Uefa Champions League. The Portuguese scored two goals in the final, and six in the quarter-finals and semi-finals against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
